Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field Project Displays Clean Earth’s Ability to Guide PFAS Remediation
As an industry leader in full-service, sustainable disposal, and unique recycling solutions, Clean Earth employs mobile thermal soil remediation to remove various types of contaminated soil across sites in the United States. With vast experience treating and processing hazardous, non-hazardous, and high-moisture contaminated media, including pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), hydrocarbons and chlorine compounds, Clean Earth is poised to provide PFAS remediation services through its ReSolve program.
Recently, Clean Earth deployed their onsite thermal soil remediation solution at Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field (Special Operations Command) in the Western Florida Panhandle. The project scope was large and urgent; the U.S. Air Force needed 155 single-family homes and 185 duplex homes removed and 465,000 tons of contaminated soil treated to allow for the beneficial reuse of the soil as backfill for the new construction of homes. Clean Earth’s thermal desorption technology served as the most suitable solution for the project as it removes the contaminated mass from the environment and preserves existing natural resources. The thermal treatment equipment exceeded the project's remediation goals, attaining a 100% success rate for all soils treated. 276 single and duplex homes were rebuilt, and over 400 military families have occupied the new homes.
Clean Earth is positioned to apply this experience and serve as a key provider of PFAS remediation nationwide. The ability to manage large projects with stringent objectives and soil beneficial use requirements while supporting the U.S. Department of Defense’s mission demonstrates the Company’s ability to take on complex PFAS projects through its ReSolve program. With the learnings from their enterprise thermal desorption technology and success in treating soil contaminated by pesticides, PCBs, hydrocarbons and other toxins, Clean Earth is ready to answer the call on PFAS with their ReSolve program.
